How to Have Holiday Fun in the Country
If you’re new to country living, you may wonder what kind of holiday fun you can get into this Christmas. Fortunately, Christmas in the country is some of the most fun you can have. If these activities aren’t available near you, maybe it’s time to start a new tradition!
Sleigh Ride
Okay, so for a true sleigh ride you need some snow. If you don’t have that, why don’t you hook up a horse-drawn buggy and take a ride around the farm? Pack the “sleigh” with blankets, fill a thermos with hot coffee or cocoa, and load up a basket of Christmas goodies. You can keep the ride romantic with just you and your significant other, or take the whole family along.
Caroling
In the country, we still love the old-fashioned Christmas traditions of old. That means a night of caroling with all your neighbors is a treasured time. Make a list of some elderly friends and relations, maybe some families who are going through hard times, and then go sing your hearts out for them. When you’re finished, maybe you could then head over to a nursing home or hospital to cheer up even more people.
Craft Fairs
Living in the country means a simpler way of life, which also means simpler gifts that have a lot of heart behind them. Craft fairs are the perfect places to find these gifts. All handmade by your friends and neighbors, these gifts are the ones your loved ones will cherish most. Plus, you get to enjoy the shopping day wandering through festive craft booths, drinking hot chocolate, and listening to holiday tunes. It’s such a great way to get into the spirit of the season.
School Concerts
Maybe you don’t have a huge concert hall available when you live in rural areas, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy brilliant instrumental and choral performances. Check out the holiday schedules for the schools in the area. You can see shows of all types, from nativity plays to concert band and choir performances. Nothing will get you more excited for the holiday season. Bonus points if your kids are performing, too!
We know after you spend your first Christmas in the country, you’ll be hooked. If you’re still considering a move, give us a call right away. There’s still time to make your down payment and take possession of your land before Christmas gets here.
